2020 FEMpower Women Leading Change

FEMpower

WOW!

FEMpower – Women Leading Change was everything we hoped it would be and more! We have never been more proud to be among the amazing women from northern Nova Scotia – your energy and passion are contagious and give us the greatest of hope for the future of our region!

You might have noticed that we were all about the music – each part of the day had it’s own tune. Our intro by Amanda kicked off with What a Feeling by Irene Cara; Setting Sail with Cindy Brown began to the Road Less Travelled by Lauren Alaina; The Balancing Act Panel with Starr, Michelle, Roni and Heidi resulted in an impromptu runway dance to the song Confident by Demi Lovato; and Donna Hatt’s Journey to Inspiration Keynote kicked off with Firework by Katy Perry (of course!).  These, along with other inspirational songs by powerful artists, were an energizing backdrop to the day.  If you’d like to refill your FEMpower cup, we highly recommend checking out the Spotify FEMpower Playlist!

The day was full of moments that will stay with us for a good long time…maybe long enough to get us through to next year’s FEMpower UNconference!

Check out our press release and Facebook photo gallery for a summary of the day.

Remember the “Bring It On!” table where you left us your thoughts on what women bring to the table when they take on leadership roles in their businesses, communities, or families?  We were so impressed with the responses that we used your words to create an Inspiration Board of your thoughts from the day!

It’s the dead of winter – time to recharge! The Strait Area Chamber has hosted several “Small Halls” women’s leadership and empowerment sessions over the last number of years – now, we’re bringing women together under one roof to energize and connect! We’ll be gathering in beautiful Baddeck to share experiences – successes, challenges, opportunities, and a-ha moments! Expect the unexpected at this event – it won’t be a typical session of sitting and listening. Topics will include non-traditional work experiences, self-care and mental health, and determining and defining our own successes. Inspiration and fun will be the underlying themes of the whole morning!  Gather a few friends and make a night of it – your ticket price includes our Thursday Night Mixer with music by Wendy Abbott and Rosie Sampson.  Hope to see you there!
